Our Name and Inspiration
Good Salt Foundation-Uganda (GOSAFO-UG) draws its name and inspiration from Matthew 5:13, where Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth.” This profound statement guides our mission, purpose and philosophy. Jesus went ahead and said, “But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and
trampled underfoot.” This is the reason why GOSAFO-UG calls itself, “Good Salt” that is good for anything and can’t be thrown out.
At GOSAFO-UG, we believe that Jesus didn’t just choose salt as a symbol because of its familiarity as a household necessity, but because of its transformative properties and vital qualities; qualities we strive to reflect in everything we do as we care for and support children.
Furthermore, we recognize the transformative qualities of salt, and we apply them to every aspect of our work. Just as salt preserves, nourishes, heals, purifies, enhances flavor, and unites, we work to ensure that each area of a child’s life is touched by these principles. By focusing on Physical wellness, Spiritual wellness, Mental wellness, Environmental wellness, Social wellness, and Intellectual wellness.
GOSAFO-UG is creating an environment where children can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential, becoming the “salt of the earth” themselves as they lead lives of purpose, hope, and service to others.
